History
1978 - David Storrs introduces alternatives to Yale University Endowment as first Director of Investments. Stewart Greenfield co-founds Oak Investment Partners, today one of the largest and most successful U.S. venture capital firms.
1992 - Stewart launches a personal hedge fund investment program and becomes an advisor to several fund of hedge funds.
1996 - Stewart joins David, previously President of Commonfund, to launch Alternative Investment Group and its fund for taxable investors.
1998, 1999 - Alternative Investment Group launches Institutional fund for tax-exempt investors and custom “fund of one” portfolio for U.K. pension plans.
2002 - Commonfund senior manager Maria Tapia joins as Partner of Investments and Partner Relations. Ellen Kanner promoted to Partner of Operations and Compliance.
2003 - Commonfund senior manager Marita Wein joins as Partner of Risk Management. Alternative Investment Group launches International fund.
2006, 2008 - Richard Cheung (2006) and Christopher Ayton (2008) join, creating an expanded Investment Committee, and are subsequently named as Partners.
2012 - Joel Gantcher and Sam Sussman join as Managing Directors, expanding the Investment Committee.
Present - Alternative Investment Group is 100% partner-owned with $90 million in personal capital invested.
